Worker’s Compensation and Rehabilitation

At Hamilton Physical Therapy, we are here to help you with the worker’s compensation claim process. After filing a claim with your employer and seeing a doctor, you may get a referral for physical therapy.

Worker’s compensation injuries can occur in any workplace. Here a some of the most common injuries:

  • Overuse and repetitive strain
  • Strains of the lumbar or thoracic spine
  • Shoulder strains/impingements
  • Fall injuries
  • Disc herniations/low back pain

You will need the following to schedule your appointment:

  • Claim information, claim number, adjuster contact information
  • Work injury date and employers’ information
  • Referral from your doctor

FCE Testing (Functional Capacity Evaluation)

A functional Capacity Evaluation evaluates an individual’s ability to perform work activities post-injury or illness. It documents the patient’s current ability from physical, medical, behavioral, and ergonomic perspectives, and it is within the scope of both occupational and physical therapists to provide such testing.

Work Conditioning Program

Injured employees who are deconditioned may have a higher risk of re-injuring themselves if they return to work in a deconditioned state. The Work Condition Program can be beneficial for

  • Workers who are back to work with restrictions or modified duty
  • Workers who have been off work and are motivated to return to work
  • Workers one year or less from injury

The WCP is a goal-oriented program designed to restore neuromuscular function in preparation for return to work.

The Work Condition Program:

  • ranges from 4-6 weeks, 3-5 days per week, 2-5 hours per day
  • is cost-effective, efficient, and results-driven
  • minimizes prolonged recovery from an injury
  • focuses on required job tasks
  • provided regular updates communicated to the physician, case manager, and/or claims adjuster
  • is coordinated with the employee’s part-time work schedule, if indicated
